I think these "pooled resources" homes will be gaining popularity even among people who may not need care, although my dad was in a shared private home and it worked out better than a facility. I just love the notion of people who may not have the family, getting a group of friends together in a large enough home that they still feel independent but connected.

You have a marvelous situation, Doryce! You are blessed to be with your family and your family is equally blessed that you are part of their daily lives.

I like the idea that is The Golden Girls lifestyle where a group of 4 women living in a house who share expenses that includes a care attendant who visits. This is like an assisted living establishment but in a single home. This would be an option for those who don’t have family nearby and don’t have enough funds for many facilities out there.

Happy March 1st Camy! First let me say I am a #1 fan of the Golden Girls!! Still watch it every night before going to bed (a real sleep-tender)! As you know, I moved in with my daughter over 8 years ago. I am now 84 (wonderful) years of age and live in a multi-generational home -- daughter, her grown kids and grown great-grandson and a teenager great-grandson (also 2 pet dogs which I tend to on a daily basis). As much as I have courted the idea of moving into a senior independent living apartment, I do enjoy the space I occupy here in my daughter's home -- freedom to go shopping and church Mass, visit with my friends for coffee, etc. Yes, I still drive -- not nighttime driving though! But I agree with all you said above. Thank you. and have a great day!!
