I concur...a visit with a friend is much more fruitful than a necklace! Our Pizelle recipe has cardamon and nutmeg instead of anise, you might want to try that someday.

Beautiful! What you wrote here touched my heart and soul. I remember my mother saying that my behavior was a reflection on her. Your son is a reflection of you in his care and respect for the simple rituals that your family enjoys. The light that came into our world through the birth of Jesus Christ is what continues to illuminate our hearts during the holiday season. A friend of mine asked me what I wanted for Christmas. Instead of more clothing or a fun necklace, I asked for a visit with her to have some tea and I could use some anise extract for my Christmas pizelles. I am grateful for all that you share here on Substack & I will think of the meaning of simplicity when I open day 15 on my advent calendar.
